Rule of Law Advocates Urge Federal Judge to Hold Hearing in New York Mayor Eric Adams Case

WASHINGTON – State Democracy Defenders Fund (SDDF) and Lawyers Defending American Democracy (LDAD) have submitted a new filing in Mayor Eric Adams’s federal criminal case to supplement the amicus brief it previously filed. The new filing urges the federal judge to hold an evidentiary hearing and to address the threshold issue of whether the Government’s motion to dismiss the indictment is “tainted with impropriety.”

Early last week, SDDF, LDAD and a group of legal ethics experts filed a motion to submit the amicus brief in the case. The filing asked the federal judge in the case to consider Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove’s conduct under the Rules of Professional Conduct and the Principles of Federal Prosecution.
