State Democracy Defenders Action Urges the House to Reject the No Rogue Rulings Act

Washington, D.C. – State Democracy Defenders Action (SDDA) is calling on the House to reject H.R. 1526, the No Rogue Rulings Act (NORRA), a dangerous attempt to strip federal courts of their ability to issue nationwide injunctions—undermining judicial oversight and threatening constitutional checks and balances.

“H.R. 1526 is a dangerous attempt to weaken the judiciary and shift power in an authoritarian direction,” said Susan Corke, Executive Director of SDDA. “By barring nationwide injunctions, this bill would make it nearly impossible to stop potentially illegal federal policies—forcing individuals to challenge them one case at a time. That’s not justice. It’s chaos.”

“Our courts are not ‘rogue’; – our judicial branch ensures a separation of powers and a system of checks and balance from the executive and the legislative branches. They are thus fulfilling their constitutional duty in our democracy by ensuring that potentially illegal or unconstitutional policies are paused while being litigated,” Corke added. “Stripping them of this authority would leave the public vulnerable to unchecked abuses. We urge lawmakers to protect our system of checks and balances and oppose H.R. 1526.”
